Connect the AI Publishing MCP server to save and reopen your work from ChatGPT. The website remains your library, not a separate AI studio.
Add a custom MCP server
In ChatGPT, open Plugins, select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Enter AI Publishing as the name and paste the server URL shown here, including /mcp.
Menu wording may differ by client version. Custom servers depend on your account and workspace policies. If the option is unavailable, ask your workspace administrator or check OpenAI’s current instructions; publication of our plugin does not bypass those controls.
Connect securely with OAuth
Choose OAuth when prompted. This server supports automatic discovery and dynamic client registration. Review the connection warning, continue and choose Create as a plugin. Sign in to AI Publishing and approve access to your library.
No manually supplied client secret is needed. Review the discovered tools before using the connection.
Select it in a new conversation
Install or enable the resulting custom plugin. Start a new chat, type @ and select AI Publishing. Use the starter prompt below, then explicitly ask to save the draft or selected materials.
Check your first save
Wait for a returned version or file receipt. Open My library on this website and verify the project and materials. A generated image in the conversation is not automatically saved.

What a custom connection includes
MCP provides project, draft, material and history tools. It does not automatically install the publishing skills from our complete plugin package. The starter prompt helps you use those tools until the full package is available.
If something does not connect
Check the exact HTTPS URL, sign in again and refresh the connection’s tool metadata. After changing a connection, start a new conversation. If file selection is unavailable in your ChatGPT client, use the website’s material upload as a fallback.
You can revoke ChatGPT access in your library’s account settings. ChatGPT’s own features, subscription and account restrictions apply separately.
